From Runt to Resilient: The Inspiring Story of Loki, the Canine God of Mischief.

By Emmi Guillen

Loki, The trickster god of Norse mythology. He went on countless journeys and evaded death with a mischievous smile. Here at Clover Basin Animal Hospital, we have our own Loki, with a story that mirrors that of the God of Mischief.

The Loki of myth was born to Laufey of the Æsir and Fárbauti of the Jötnar. He was born small for a Jötunn, because of his mixed heritage. Our Loki was born the runt of the litter. When he was born, the breeders couldn’t see this tiny puppy making it. Vets were convinced that he would end up with neurological issues and wouldn’t be able to walk. Loki was resigned to a fate as a special needs pet.

Despite the bleak predictions, Loki never gave up hope. He fought to survive and prove his worth to the world. His determination and resilience amazed everyone who met him. But it was his new dad, Alex, who fell in love with him and decided to give him a chance at life.

Alex saw the potential in Loki, despite his small size and his supposed health issues. He believed that Loki deserved a chance to live a happy and fulfilling life, just like any other dog. And so, he brought Loki home with him.

As time went on, Loki grew more confident and started to show his true personality. He was mischievous and playful, just like his namesake from Norse mythology. He loved to run and play, and he never let his small size hold him back.

But despite his energy and enthusiasm, there were still times when Loki struggled. His health issues meant that he had to be extra careful, and there were times when he needed extra help to get around. But Alex never wavered in his love for Loki, and he was always there to lend a helping hand when needed.

Now, Loki is three years old, and he is living his best life with Alex by his side. He still has health issues, but he has learned to adapt to them and live his life to the fullest. He loves to play and run and cuddle with his dad, and he has become a beloved member of his family and the Clover Basin Animal Hospital community.

Loki's story is one of hope and resilience, of never giving up in the face of

adversity. He is a reminder that even the smallest and seemingly weakest among us can overcome incredible odds and achieve greatness. And his story is a testament to the power of love and dedication, and the amazing things that can happen when we believe in ourselves and those around us.
